Podiatrists are foot and ankle specialists who can assess, diagnose and treat conditions regarding the feet, ankles and the entire lower limb leading to improved mobility and quality of life.
Hartley foot care is a home visiting service which offers a plethora of treatments for your foot care needs.
Routine Foot Care
Regular foot care can dramatically reduce ones discomfort and help prevent problems that may cause you to become unsteady on your feet. Appointments usually last around 30 minutes in duration and can cover many issues including
- Nail Cutting
-Corn removal
- Callus removal
-Fungal nails
- Ingrown nails
-Cracked and painful heels
- Diabetic feet.
Diabetic foot checks
Diabetes may alter the blood flow to the lower extremities, causing damage to the nerves resulting in a tingling sensation and numbness or a complete loss of sensation. Prevention is the best approach for managing diabetes therefore an examination should be carried out as follows:
-Assessing if there are any foot problems at present.
-Neurological examination to assess any nerve damage in the feet (neuropathy).
-Vascular assessment to assess blood flow to the feet.
-Assessing footwear and foot shape to determine the risk of pressure/rubbing.
-Seek any signs of inflammation or infection along with changes in colour to the skin.
-Discover the risk of developing a diabetic foot problem (low, medium, high).
Biomechanics-
For any pain in the foot or leg.
On average people record between 5,000-18,000 steps a day, this repetitive motion may ultimately lead to damage to your legs and feet. A detailed assessment of the structure and function of the foot and leg can help distinguish any causes or contributing factors for causing this pain.
If you have any concerns regarding your feet, please get in touch.
